Come to this interesting, fun, informative, and free talk by noted Permaculture Instructor and Consultant, Dick Pierce. Permaculture is sustainable agriculture, organic gardening, and green building/living at its best. Dick has taught Permaculture Design Courses in Austin and Martha's Vineyard for many years and will introduce Permaculture from 7-8:30 pm. Come early (6 pm) for light snacks and to talk to various nonprofit groups that will have tables here: DFW Ecovillage, Transition Dallas, Dallas Cohousing, Slow Money, Feed Texas First, and several other nonprofits. The North Texas Clean Air Coalition Let’s Do Lunch program is a monthly outreach event designed to educate employers about air quality issues including EPA standards, transit solutions, telecommuting and flex-time as well as designing energy conservation measures for their businesses and utilizing sustainable practices to reduce their impact on the environment. The NTCAC works in conjunction with the Founding Member Partners to provide information on clean air initiatives including facts and figures and what they mean for the region now and in the future.

Living from the Ground Up is designed to provide those interested in producing income with their small acreage a chance to learn from area “veteran” producers already running small farms and sustainable agricultural operations through the sharing of their personal experiences.

Keynote speaker Howard Garrett, The Dirt Doctor, is a leader in the
natural organic marketplace and provides advice on natural organic
gardening, landscaping, pet health, pest control and natural living via a nationally-syndicated radio talk show and in his column, Organic Answers which appears in the Dallas Morning News.

Earth Day Dallas hopes to catalyze a "green" movement in North Texas by staging a two-day event on April 22nd and 23rd over several city blocks in the Dallas Arts District.  We anticipate 500 civic, corporate and non-profit participants engaged in an event that will be the biggest and best Earth Day celebration in this part of the United States.  Sponsors currently include:

DIY Gardener: Rainwater Harvesting
Thursday, March 10th, 7:00pm-8:30pm—Are you new to gardening or just looking for ways to be more successful in the garden? The Do-It-Yourself Gardener classes are a great introduction to the essentials of gardening. This class will cover rainwater harvesting.

"Show Me the Money" Breakfast Offers Expert Panel on Financing and Funding Sustainable Development

The Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council (GFWREC), a unified voice for the commercial real estate industry in the Fort Worth area, announced details today about the 2nd Winter Sustainability Summit to be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The "Show Me the Money" breakfast roundtable summit will continue the GFWREC Sustainability Series that kicked off last spring, and it will be held at the TCU Cox Banquet Hall in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center.
