The ensemble will present a live multi-media show called "The Legend of Big Bend" on Nov. 14 at the Dallas Arboretum.

Sept. 11, 2019

This year’s Green Source DFW Awards will offer a treat for nature lovers.

The Legend of Big Bend Montopolis, an Austin-based music ensemble, will perform The Legend of Big Bend at the 8th annual Sustainable Leadership Awards hosted by Green Source DFW and its parent nonprofit the Memnosyne Institute on Nov. 14 at the Dallas Arboretum.

The multi-media group will perform live with the backdrop of images of the iconic national park, weaving science, history, poetry and personal stories into music inspired by the land.

Led by composer Justin Sherburn, Montopolis combines country, folk, and rock styles into modern classical arrangements the Austin Chronicle has called "stunning" and "transcendent.” The musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree and the Tosca String Quartet

According to its website, Montopolis hopes to inspire responsible stewardship of our natural resources through performances that celebrate the beauty of nature.

"All our guests will be treated to a special evening of original musical excellence combined with a video tribute to Big Bend National Park. We suggest buying your tickets early as this event will certainly sell out. This is a 'don’t miss' awards dinner and as always, which includes a wine tasting and a first class buffet," said Green Source DFW director Wendel Withrow.
