General Meeting of the Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club

Dan Smith, a
Fort Worth Sierra Club member and avid hiker and camper, will continue
his wonderful slides and stories of his travels on the Pacific Crest
Trail for approximately 6 months. He shared his stories at the May 2011
Sierra Club meeting and we requested that he come back to continue his
travelogue.

The third Wednesday of each month we share conservation
news, outings info and enjoy a presentation by a guest speaker. Speaker
will be followed by refreshments, club business and announcements.

Free and open to the public.

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of TBUFC!

The Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council is an organization formed
to address the increasing urban forestry needs for the eight county
region surrounding Dallas, Texas.

Our mission is to promote the protection and development of urban forest
resources. We execute our mission by communicating important issues,
needs and information about urban forest resources to our local
officials, civic leaders and media.

Building Bridges…

Join us in Waco on October 5-7, 2011, for the largest and best Texas Tree Conference ever! We anticipate over 500 attendees as we "Build Bridges" to include a track for Utility Arborists, and offer sessions focusing on Landscape Architecture with trees in mind, Irrigation with trees in mind, and a Tree School for Spanish-speaking arborists. In addition, we will continue our history of providing outstanding education programs featuring nationally known speakers, the latest in tree research and arboriculture, an awards luncheon, and numerous networking opportunities.

Come celebrate Cedar Hill “Growing Green” at the Music in the Park Concert.

The concert will feature the nationally acclaimed “Vocal Trash”.  This is a high energy band that puts the fun into recycling and uses instruments recycled from trash.

The admission is free.

Besides great music, there will be environmental booths and demonstrations, recycling information, the Adopt-A-Park/Adopt-A-Trail kick-off, food and opportunities to learn how Cedar Hill is “Growing Green”.

 On-site paper shredding
will be available for $5.00 per box* from 6:00-7:00pm. Bring your
documents in boxes, bags, whatever you like and there is no need to
remove paper clips, staples, etc. Any quantity welcome! *A standard box 15"x12"x10" or Kitchen Trash Bag holds 35 lbs.

Bring your lawn chairs, come early, celebrate “Green” and enjoy the concert!

TCE is throwing an exciting party at Highland Mall
in Austin to celebrate Texas Campaign for the Environment’s 20 years of
protecting our air, water, land and health – and you’re invited to join
the party or become a sponsor! The celebration will be TCE’s first-ever Trash Makeover: Fashion Reuse Challenge. Judged by a celebrity panel with Liz Watson serving as emcee, local designers will compete with each other by creating fashions comprised of recycled materials. The VIP reception begins at 6 pm and the main event is from 7 to 9 pm in a former clothing store on the lower level of the mall.

The Trash Makeover will be a Zero Waste event - at least 90% of discards will be reused, recycled or composted.

course is designed for all individuals interested in becoming certified
energy improvement professionals, verifying the performance
characteristics of an existing home and participation in Residential
Energy Efficiency Standard Offer Programs.
