Through more than 50 years of groundbreaking work, Dr. Jane Goodall has not only shown us the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also redefined species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment.

Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time.

Now, thousands of people of all ages and walks of life worldwide join the four-day count each February to create an annual snapshot of the distribution and abundance of birds.

Participate for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count, February 18-21, 2022. Simply tally the numbers and kinds of birds you see. Count from any location.

articipants will learn how to collect and utilize rainwater at home. This class is hands on DIY where each participant will build and take home a 55-gallon rain barrel at $50 dollars each. Rain barrels are recycled food-grade containers and are roughly 24 inches wide by 36 inches tall.

What is a Regional Center of Expertise? In 2003, the United Nations University’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) launched its ESD project. This program designs and implements research and development activities through a multi-stakeholder global network of Regional Centers of Expertise (RCEs). RCEs prepare local leaders of tomorrow with the tools and information they need to make smart and sustainable choices for the future.
