North Texas Renewable Energy Group Meeting

Topic: "Thinking Outside About the Box - The Benefits of Well Designed Buildings."
Presenter: Paul Westbrook, LEED AP, Sustainable Development Manger, Texas Instruments.
 
Paul Westbrook was recently appointed as a Senior Fellow for the US State Department's Energy and Climate Partnership for the Americas (ECPA) program. He designed his own passive/active solar house using integrated design principles. The house won the 1996 National Association of Home Builders Energy Value Housing Award for Innovative Design. In 2006, Paul installed a 2.4 kW Skystream wind turbine on the property. The Westbrooks maintain a native landscape, which combined with the interior water saving features, resulted in Paul being named the 2009 NorthTexas Municipal Water District Water Genius.
 
Paul holds a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, where he has worked since 1983. Paul is a LEED Accredited Professional and led the sustainable design effort that resulted in the first ever LEED Gold Certified semiconductor manufacturing facility which was built in Richardson, TX. He also led the effort to build two LEED certified manufacturing facilities in the Philippines (LEED Silver and LEED Gold).
