  1. Advocacy
    – Advocacy is a powerful tool in garnering support for programs and
    facilities.  This session will discuss the importance of developing your
    role as an advocate and strategies for success.  Presenter: Michael
    Meadows, President & CEO, Dallas Zoological Society.
  2. Recruiting Volunteer Membership for Friends Groups
    – Learn how to effectively recruit and retain volunteer membership for
    your organization and identify special projects that will improve your
    local parks.  Presenters: Tabitha Ford, Muncipal Service Coordinator,
    Volunteer Center of North Texas
  3. Happy Trails to You – Developing Dallas’ Trail Awareness Campaign
    – This session summarizes Dallas’ trail safety and marketing program,
    providing opportunities for attendees to learn how a large municipality
    addresses trail development, marketing and safety.  Presenter: Jared
    White, Project Coordinator and Sally Rodriguez, Project Coordinator.

  4. Rental and Special Event Facilities
    – This session presents an overview of Park Department facilities for
    your next fundraiser, special event or meeting.  Special emphasis will
    be placed on matching the special events with the appropriate sites.

  5. Introduction to the 2012 Capital Bond Program and Dallas Parks Foundation
    – The City of Dallas is in the preliminary stages in the development of
    the 2012 Capital Bond Program.  Willis Winters will discuss the process
    for the development of the bond program and how you can advocate for
    your park and neighborhood.  The new Director of Development for the
    Dallas Parks Foundation will explain the relationship of the foundation
    to the bond program and how your organization can work with the
    foundation to benefit your parks.  (This session repeates @ 11:00 a.m.)

    Construction and Facility Services & Samuel Stiles, Director of

  1. 2011 Dallas Bike Plan: Shared/Multi-Use Path Facilities
    – This session will provide an overview of the 2011 Dallas Bike Plan,
    and focus on the off-street elements of the planned/envisioned Dallas
    Bikeway System.  Presenters: Max Kalhammer, Community Advocate &

  2. Aquatics Master Plan – Be “water smart”
    – The experts will present current trends in the aquatics industry and
    the Park Department’s long range plans for bringing Dallas’ aquatics
    facilities into the 21st century.  Presenters:  Robin Steinshnider,
    Aquatics Manager & Kenneth Pyland, Aquatics Project Coordinator.

  5. Positioning for the Future -
    This session will address changing demographics in the City of Dallas
    and discuss the four “P”s for positioning the Dallas park system for the
    future:  Purpose, Plan, People and Promotion.  Presenter:  Bill Lively,
    Vice-Chancellor, University of North Texas.
