This master composter class is certified by the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR). Class features hands-on composting and building a composting system at the New Hope Garden at the Austin Street Center in Dallas for the homeless.

Internationally known environmental education, Larry Wilhelm is the class instructor.  Larry created this program and has taught Master Composting classes for over 25 years. Larry’s passion for a sustainable environment and depth of experience makes the course informative, motivational and entertaining.

To be eligible for certification, participants must complete 20 hours of education, 16 in-class and 4 out-of-class, as well as 20 hours of eligible volunteer activity. 

Classes will be held Sept. 7-9, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday). Additionally, there will be a 4-hour field trip on a separate day (TBD).

The $25 registration fee includes the Rodale Book of Composting and lunch.
