This year we will kick off our 3rd
annual photo contest on June 15. We are anxious to get started and to
see all of the contestant's beautiful adventures within the Trinity
River Corridor.

The contest will begin at 8:00 a.m. on
June 15 and will end on October 15 at midnight. Judging will take place
shortly after the contest ends. There will be a presentation of the
winners during a Dallas City Council Meeting after the judging is
complete.

If you completed the Wilderness Navigation Class in October, or you
took the navigation class a year or two ago and you want to refresh your
wilderness navigation skills, this trip is for you. We will hike the
Buckeye Mountain Trail and do some off-trail route finding in the Caney
Creek Wilderness in Arkansas. We will only hike about 8 or 9 miles so we
will have plenty of time to practice our navigation skills. Note that
this is not a beginner trip. Participants must have some backpacking
experience. Signup is not required for the class, but it is required for
this backpack trip.  Contact Bill to sign up or sign up at the
Wilderness Navigation Class. Leaders: Bill Greer 972-247-0446 and Arthur Kuehne 214-902-9260

This month DFW Aquaponics Meetup will be sponsoring a short hands-on workshop to teach
the techniques necessary to build a "strawberry tower" from common PVC
pipe and a few other components. I will have instructions available ($5)
that will detail the steps to build the tower, or we will provide the
instructions along with the materials to build your own 4' tower ($25) [
Please make a comment in your RSVP if you would like materials to build your own tower.]

These structures are a great place to grow Strawberries (obviously),
but also for all types of herbs, greens, and even certain vining plants.
I will specifically discuss how to integrate these growing vessels into
aquaponics systems and how to calculate their bio-filtration
effectiveness.
