Denton artist turns bad music into bracelets

GSDFW Archive - First published April 6, 2011 -  House of Smash still growing with distribution in six states.          

A few years ago when Nix Johnson was layed off from his corporate job, he decided to pursue his passion of creating art, and in 2009, House of Smash was born. Johnson began drawing and painting in high school and he studied screen printing and print making in college before moving to mixed media.

Lynne Weinberger began her eco-friendly artist quest back in the 1960s. True, the McKinney native was just in elementary school at the time, but using her artist skills with fabric felt right.

Artists Elizabeth "Sissy" Bingham and Lynn Reagan of the Rockin AB Artists Studio got started on their eco-friendly artist quest as mosaic artists about 10 years ago.

“We started taking mosaic classes at the Creative Art Center and found our niche,” said Bingham.
