Join Southern Sector Rising for a community briefing on the status of Environmental Justice during the COVID-19 pandemic in Dallas - especially Southern Dallas. Black and Brown communities are being disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic due to preexisting health inequities. Environmental health is even more important now. With the Climate Action Plan set to vote on May 27, we have a lot to discuss between now and then.

Speakers:

Marsha Jackson & Allen McGill - Co-chairs of Southern Sector Rising and members of the Lane Plating Superfund Site Community Advisory Group for District 8.

Pastor Danielle Ayers - Minister of Justice at Friendship West Baptist Church of Dallas and advocate for equal protection for all people.

Reverend McGruder - Youth Pastor at Friendship West Baptist Church of Dallas. David Malcolm McGruder is a minister, educator, and organizer hailing from Kansas City, Kansas.

John Fullinwider - Long time Dallas organizer and activist who fought against the lead smelters in West Dallas and Oak Cliff, leading the formation of the Environmental Health Commission.

Evelyn Mayo - Chair of Downwinders at Risk and author of "In Plain Sight: Compliance Issues in Southern Dallas," presenting her latest research in partnership with Paul Quinn College on air pollution burden by zip code in Dallas.
