Presentation by Lynda Harvey, a Denton County Master Gardener and member of the Trinity Forks NPSOT chapter. “Plant This, Not That” analyzes multiple factors to create a sustainable garden in North Texas. The objective is to design a residential landscape that is appealing, suitable, economic and responsible, where plants can serve a functional purpose in additional to their aesthetic benefits. The conventional landscape is contrasted with the sustainable (or modern) approach to show the beauty of an alternative method that is water and environmentally sound.  The presentation focuses on the Cross Timbers “Dirty Dozen” and offers native substitutes for trees, vines and grasses.
