Presenter Larry Howe.

Since retiring in 2011 from a long-term engineering career in the telecommunications industry, Larry Howe has been pursuing volunteer advocacy work in renewable energy, and more specifically rooftop solar energy in Texas. Along with other Live Green in Plano volunteers, in 2012 he co-founded Plano Solar Advocates, a grassroots volunteer group of Plano citizens whose mission is to increase awareness and expand the use of solar energy for electricity generation in Plano and beyond. In addition, Larry has completed two terms on the board of directors of the Texas Solar Energy Society. In this role, he worked to promote building codes for solar-ready new homes, and participated in various ERCOT working groups, attempting to represent rooftop solar “prosumers” as the newest market participants in the electricity market in Texas.

The objectives of this presentation are to (1) put solar energy in your vocabulary,  (2) to provide you the basics of rooftop solar before you contact solar installation companies, and (3) to encourage you to “talk up” solar energy with your family and friends.
