The 350.org Fort Worth kick off meeting will feature Bruce Melton, director of the Climate Change Now Initiative and active Sierra Club member.

"Irreversible" tipping points are now active after 30 years of delay in controlling warming. Melton will talk about recent research identifying more than half of known tipping points that have now been activated, time frames, implications for unrecoverable impacts with failure, the warming limit for reversing tipping activation and the solutions that enable a healthy and safe climate. The impacts highlighted this session will be ongoing: permafrost collapse, Antarctica and Greenland collapse, shutdown of the Gulf Stream, collapse of high altitude, high latitude, and tropical forests, and barrier island collapse. Solutions are everything we know how to do, plus at the same time according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 1.5 C Report in 2018, removing more than 1,000 Gt CO2 from our skies, much sooner than 2100.
