Ranjana is a scientist and committed environmentalist who has demonstrated love for Arlington and is committed to do everything she can to keep our city's water, air, and land clean for all its residents.
Leadership (Nominee demonstrates leadership through example, knowledge, attitude)
As one of her last actions, Ranjana created an organization focused to fight the creation of a disposal well near Lake Arlington. The organization's name is Livable Arlington. She rallied citizens to fight with her by using its websites to send letters to the involved authorities to stop the well.
She was able to get the local communications and news organization to spread the news around this issue (NBC, CBS, Newspapers and other organizations) She created news packets and press releases.
Ranjana was able to coordinate with other environmental focused organizations like Sierra Club, Green Party Tarrant County to spread information about the issue.
She networked tirelessly with other environmentally conscious organizations like Democtratic Women of Arlington, Indivisible and others to obtain signatures, send letters and spread information about the issue.
She organized booths on events like Earth Day and others and was able to lead the effort to create and maintain these booths, manned and stock with useful information.
She met with local authorities, the Railroad Commission and other influential stakeholders to make sure everyone was aware of the risk our city was in.

Thanks to her efforts, in an unprecedented move, the company that wanted to build the disposal well in the city of Arlington withdraw the application they have filed.

Arlington water is free from the contaminating effects that this disposal well could have brought to our community and lake.
