Wildlife management, issues, support, and rehabilitation

8:30 a.m. - Noon: Tour a stretch of the West Fork of the Trinity River to view ducks, herons, beaver and other critters. Sunscreen, water and weather appropriate clothing (including shoes that can get wet) are recommended. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are provided. Children must be 5 years or older. Parents must sign a liability waiver for minor children. Some previous experience recommended. Registration ends Thursday preceding or when filled. Maximum - 12 participants. Meet at Big River Parking Lot. Pre-registration required. $20 (includes admission fee)/MEMBERS $15.

Spring is a great time to explore the trails of the Outdoors Learning Center. Kids ages 6-10 will learn about native grasses, flowers, and animals. $10.

Experience Plano's nightly display of lightning bugs up close with a certified entomologist as he teaches about their behaviour and how they are helping with cancer research. Everyone 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. No pets allowed. $5.

Trip to tour the In-sync Wildlife Rescue and Education Center in Wylie. As you tour the facility you will learn how the cats are cared for and rehabilitated. If your child is 7 years or younger, you must provide a child safety seat as required by state law. Everyone 17 years or younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. $13.

Exciting camping trip to historic Fort Richardson State Park. Fort Richardson was a major outpost in the 1870s that was established by the US military to help protect settlers living on the frontier. Transportation, camping meals, and overnight park fees are included. Mandatory pre-trip meeting on Thursday, April 28 at Liberty Rec Center from 6:30-7:30pm (see address above). $100.

Experience the hilly terrain of Dinosaur Valley State Park. Explore dinosaur tracks, scenic bluff overlooks, and unusual creek washes. Picnic lunch, entry fee, and transportation are included.
