Celebrate local agriculture and food at the annual Summer Harvest Festival at Cowtown Farmers Market, 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 7.

Activities at the free, family-friendly festival will include cooking demonstrations by the chefs of the Culinary School of Fort Worth; live music by Barbara Taylor and Jeff Gibbons; door prizes; tasting samples of fresh, local fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread, cake and more; plus a coloring contest for children.

Members of the Tarrant County Master Gardeners Association will answer lawn and garden questions, and Dottie Woodson, water resources expert with the Texas Agrilife Extension Center, will discuss water conservation and setting up a rain barrel.

Two local chef-authors will sell and autograph cookbooks: Jon Bonnell of Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine will sign copies of his latest cookbook, "Jon Bonnell's Texas Favorites" and cooking teacher/Star-Telegram columnist Ellise Pierce, a Denton native who currently resides in Paris, will sign copies of "Cowgirl Chef: Texas Cooking with the Cowgirl Chef."

The market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon from mid-April to mid-September with a special Thanksgiving market in November.  Vendors include Holleman Farms for beef, chicken, pork and eggs, Stephanie’s Cookies, Joy Farms and Lucido Pastas.  Located on the parking lot between Celebration Restaurant and Market.
