The city of Irving hosts its annual green film fest as an alternative to the outdoor fairs. Three venues are showing 19 environmental films with something for everyone. Earth Day Texas (formerly, Earth Day Dallas) is an annual, outdoor festival seeking to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. The family-friendly and free-admission event allows leaders in the corporate, academic and non-profit worlds to unite and show Texans how green lifestyle choices can lower their cost of living, improve their health, and help save the environment.

The heart of the festival is the Eco Expo where exhibitors will use their presence to promote their achievements as green leaders, and teach attendees how to take environmentally responsible action by better utilizing available resources, switching to eco-friendly products, or joining their organizations.

2015 Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Georgeann Moss, Dallas County Community College District.

New Sierra Club chapter for residents in Denton and Collin Counties hosts this water planning meeting with water planning and conservation expert speakers from the Sierra Club’s Lone Star Chapter and local water districts and municipalities.

Residents in Denton and Collin counties who are interested in lessening their ecological footprint on their communities now have a place to come together in the Sierra Club Cross Timbers Group. 

This will be an introductory meeting where attendees can join the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots. Members can learn about upcoming meetings where guest speakers will discuss protecting natural areas, water conservation, long-range water planning, gardening and hiking trips. Members will also learn about environmental issues that directly impact Denton and Collin counties. 

The Sierra Club Cross Timbers Group will hold meetings in both Denton and Collin counties. If anyone would like to serve on the group’s leadership committee or for more information, contact Brandi Price at brandirealemail@gmail.com.
