Denton Organic Society monthly meeting with speakers Ken & Jan Dickson, owners of Elm Fork Ranch. Visit to Elm Fork Ranch to see their grass-fed beef operation, follows on Oct 22, 10am.

This month DFW Aquaponics Meetup will be sponsoring a short hands-on workshop to teach
the techniques necessary to build a "strawberry tower" from common PVC
pipe and a few other components. I will have instructions available ($5)
that will detail the steps to build the tower, or we will provide the
instructions along with the materials to build your own 4' tower ($25) [
Please make a comment in your RSVP if you would like materials to build your own tower.]

These structures are a great place to grow Strawberries (obviously),
but also for all types of herbs, greens, and even certain vining plants.
I will specifically discuss how to integrate these growing vessels into
aquaponics systems and how to calculate their bio-filtration
effectiveness.

The Fifteenth Annual Recyclers’ Golf Tournament is coordinated by the Greater DFW Recycling Alliance and the North Texas Corporate Recycling Association.

Proceeds from the tournament are divided between the two non-profit organizations and used to help promote recycling and waste reduction activities in local communities.

followed by a Q&A session, a chance to sign a petition, and a raffle
drawing to win a trip to New Orleans!

Cost: A small fee (about $5) will be asked by the space to defray the cost.

Refreshments: 1919 Hemphill will generously provide vegan popcorn, soda, and water.

More about the movie: "Defend the Gulf" features "a beautiful piece from
Cornell's Ornithology Lab, the hilarious 'BP Spills Coffee', excerpts
from GRN's issue-focused Gulf Tides series, and more."
