We are an enthusiastic, energetic group of volunteers dedicated to the preservation and enhancementof White Rock Lake Park as an urban oasis.

Working together since 1995, For the Love of the Lake has helped enhance the lake and park with hands-on projects such as picking up litter and recyclables during our monthly Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-Up events, helping to create the White Rock Lake Museum and The Celebration Tree Grove, working to restore the historic Big Thicket building and other park facilities, painting buildings and restroom murals, and generally assisting the Dallas Park and Recreation Department in maintaining White Rock Lake Park as the Jewel of Dallas.

Texas Campaign for the Environment  is dedicated to informing and mobilizing Texans to protect the quality of their lives, their health, their communities and the environment. We believe that people have a right to know and a right to act on issues that fundamentally affect their lives and future generations.
TCE is a non-partisan, non-profit citizens' organization that focuses on local and state issues. TCE has organized award-winning campaigns to protect our public health in Texas. Polls consistently show Texans support policies to protect the environment and our quality of life; TCE works to give Texans the opportunity to channel that support into action.

Often times we face opposition from powerful interests that would resist changes that benefit our public health. To fight organized money, we need organized people. Contributions of funds, time and talent provide TCE with the necessary resources to help Texans have a voice in the policy-making process. Each member represents an educated and concerned citizen, so please join TCE.

To work in a legal, ethical, and civil manner to stop urban gas drilling in the highly residential areas of North Texas. We are not against all gas drilling, but rather that which will adversely affect the public safety, the enjoyment of our homes, and our overall quality of life. Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling (DARRD) formed in 2010 to address concerns over gas drilling in Dallas. We are not opposed to gas drilling, but we favor responsible drilling practices (per Drill Right Texas) and City of Dallas transparency due to the urban/community-oriented setting of these sites and methods.

Public Citizen Texas is an office of progressive advocates who research and recommend policy that will lower electric bills, increase clean and renewable sources of energy, and combat greenhouse gas emissions which are responsible for global climate change.  We have professionals working to encourage city and state incentives for energy efficiency (the only negative-cost energy source), to create incentives and mandates for more renewable energy, and to stop newly proposed coal and nuclear plants which pose major health and environmental risks and are likely to cost consumers more than cleaner greener alternatives.

Downwinders at Risk is a grassroots organization that champions clean air quality in North Texas. It started in 1993 to take action against the burning of hazardous waste at the Midlothian cement kilns. It was also involved in the successful green cement campaign. Downwinders is currently pursing concerns over air pollution being generated by poorly-regulated fracking practices (gas drilling).
