City of Fort Worth: Environmental Awards - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Jun 1 2020 - 8:00am to Aug 31 2020 - 5:00pm

The City of Fort Worth Environmental Excellence Awards celebration honoring innovation in waste reduction, recycling and water efficiency is scheduled for Nov. 4, 2020.

The application for the 2020 Environmental Excellence Awards is available online at www.FortWorthTexas.gov/environmental-awards. The deadline to apply is Aug. 31, 2020.

The awards will be presented during a luncheon ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 at River Ranch Stockyards, 500 NE 23rdSt.

The awards program began in 1999 as the Pretreatment Awards, honoring companies in full compliance with wastewater regulations. Those awards will continue and are based on the number of consecutive years of compliance. They include the Star, Associate, Partnership and Stewardship levels.

In 2019, the awards program added the Innovation Award and the Recognition Award. Each category contains subcategories and businesses can apply for more than one award.

The Innovation Awards are presented in the areas of Water Use & Process Improvement, Water Conservation, Stormwater, Air Quality, Land Redevelopment, Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling.

Recognition Awards include Fort Worth Friendly Landscapes, recognizing businesses applying water conservation principles to their landscape, and the SmartWater Award, which has been presented since 2010 to industrial, commercial and institutional customers implementing water efficiency strategies following a SmartWater Audit.

ACTION ALERT! Southern Sector Rising: Move Shingle Mountain Accountability Convoy - Dallas

Aug 29 2020 - 11:00am to 2:00pm
3155 W. Wheatland Rd
Dallas , TX

Take some time this Saturday to support a Dallas resident and a Dallas neighborhood that's literally been getting dumped on for three years. Marsha Jackson and Southern Sector Rising are asking for your help to Move Shingle Mountain.

Since 2018 Ms. Jackson and other residents of the Flora Farms neighborhood have tried everything to get the six story, 100,000 ton pile of illegal hazardous waste towering over them cleaned-up.

Now they've given the City until Oct. 1 to begin that clean up. City Hall HAS the money and the legal authority to remove the waste, but won't budge. No one will say why. So Southern Sector Rising and its supporters are calling out the elected officials most responsible for the delay.

And We're Taking the Mountain to Them!

Come and see for yourself. Join us in our Accountability Convoy this Saturday, complete with its own Shingle Mountain Float, mock trials for the accused, and shaming of the guilty. It's a multi-stop, movable truth and justice action.
