Keep Texas Beautiful: Don't Mess with Texas Scholarship - Application Deadline is March 31

This scholarship recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their schools and/or communities. Any Texas high school senior currently attending public, private or home school, and planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited college or university next year, is eligible to apply.

Keep Texas Beautiful & TxDoT: Don't Mess with Texas Art Contest - Deadline April 24

Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation invite Texas students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit their best litter prevention-inspired artwork to be considered for the Don’t mess with Texas Calendar. Students with the top 14 designs will have their work featured in the calendar. 

Each winner will also receive:

    •    Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" tablet

    •    Gift basket with Buc-ee's merchandise

    •    Their artwork framed and returned

    •    Opportunity to have their artwork shared on Don’t mess with Texas and Keep Texas Beautiful websites and social media

    •    Teachers representing students who produce the top 14 designs will win a $100 H-E-B/Central Market gift card.

The contest is open to students in grades K-12. Submissions are due April 24.

Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and for working in a natural area (long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes, hat).

Water and snacks will be available.

O.S. Gray Natural Area has no restroom facilities, but Kroger is nearby.

A small crew of volunteers meets occasionally to keep trails and other scenic areas clear of invasive species, trash and unwanted vegetation. Our new designation from the State as a Great Texas Wildlife Trail makes this work all the more important. Morning snacks and coffee provided.

Trinity Park Conservancy: Poor People's Campaign on Civic Engagement - Dallas

Olinka Green from the Poor People's Campaign will discuss the importance of civic engagement in Dallas and voter turnout.

In 2018, only 6 percent of Dallas' population voted in the mayoral election, the median age of that voter was 62 years old. After a TED talk style discussion with Olinka, attendees will have time to connect with the Poor People's Campaign and Commissary Is Very Necessary, Inc.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy our Outdoor Classroom series.
