Keep Texas Beautiful: Don't Mess with Texas Scholarship - Application Deadline is March 31

This scholarship recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their schools and/or communities. Any Texas high school senior currently attending public, private or home school, and planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited college or university next year, is eligible to apply.

Keep Texas Beautiful & TxDoT: Don't Mess with Texas Art Contest - Deadline April 24

Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation invite Texas students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit their best litter prevention-inspired artwork to be considered for the Don’t mess with Texas Calendar. Students with the top 14 designs will have their work featured in the calendar. 

Each winner will also receive:

    •    Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" tablet

    •    Gift basket with Buc-ee's merchandise

    •    Their artwork framed and returned

    •    Opportunity to have their artwork shared on Don’t mess with Texas and Keep Texas Beautiful websites and social media

    •    Teachers representing students who produce the top 14 designs will win a $100 H-E-B/Central Market gift card.

The contest is open to students in grades K-12. Submissions are due April 24.

Fort Worth Audubon Society: Ducks Unlimited and Ongoing Wetland Preservation and Conservation Efforts in Texas - Fort Worth

Ducks Unlimited takes a continental landscape approach to wetland conservation and their mission is to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people. Since 1937, DU has conserved more than 14 million acres of waterfowl habitat across North America. Bob will be speaking about Ducks Unlimited’s continental conservation work with a specific focus on wetland conservation in Texas and how DU’s Major Sponsor program impacts these programs. He will also discuss how DU’s Youth & Education program is growing across the nation in high schools and universities, to help educate the next generation of conservationists.

The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. Come early for mini-ID class at 6:50 p.m.
