Keep Texas Beautiful: Don't Mess with Texas Scholarship - Application Deadline is March 31

This scholarship recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their schools and/or communities. Any Texas high school senior currently attending public, private or home school, and planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited college or university next year, is eligible to apply.

Keep Texas Beautiful & TxDoT: Don't Mess with Texas Art Contest - Deadline April 24

Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation invite Texas students in kindergarten through 12th grade to submit their best litter prevention-inspired artwork to be considered for the Don’t mess with Texas Calendar. Students with the top 14 designs will have their work featured in the calendar. 

Each winner will also receive:

    •    Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" tablet

    •    Gift basket with Buc-ee's merchandise

    •    Their artwork framed and returned

    •    Opportunity to have their artwork shared on Don’t mess with Texas and Keep Texas Beautiful websites and social media

    •    Teachers representing students who produce the top 14 designs will win a $100 H-E-B/Central Market gift card.

The contest is open to students in grades K-12. Submissions are due April 24.

Northaven United Methodist Church: Author of Zero Waste Home - Dallas

Bea Johnson, author of Zero Waste Home, will share her secrets to achieving zero waste and the importance of applying her 5R's in order (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot). 

Her evening talk at Northaven Church will be accompanied by local vendors who share similar goals of reducing waste. Two of the vendors, North Haven Gardens and Interabang Books, were directly hit by the Oct. 20 tornado. 

Zero Waste Home will be available for purchase or bring your copy for the Book Signing after.
