Groundwork Dallas: Parks Cleanup Volunteer Opportunity - Dallas (Every Saturday)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES EVERY SATURDAY

FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH, 9 a.m. to noon

Join Groundwork Dallas at Hines Park, a hidden gem along Harry Hines Blvd. Help protect the park’s water feature, a haven for migratory birds as well as egrets and heron, by removing litter and debris.

Where:  Harry Hines Park, near the intersection of Harry Hines Blvd and Webb Chapel Extension. Parking is in the Xenco Laboratories Lot at 9701 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas TX 75220

Please wear closed-toe shoes, pants, high socks and long sleeves.

SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH SATURDAYS OF THE MONTH, 9 a.m. to noon

Join Groundwork Dallas at Frasier Dam Recreation Area, a unique 116-acre urban wilderness. Help us restore and improve this area through litter clean-up and removal, trail building, and maintenance.

Where: 9300 Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75247. Take the I-35 South ramp off of Harry Hines Blvd; entrance is to the right just under the bridge.

**Look for the Yellow Feather Flags That Say ‘Parking’ to Find Us**

Looking for fun activities and ways to immerse your children in nature? Sign up for one or more of FWNC&R's Summer Natural History Adventures. The summer camps are available for students entering Kindergarten through 6th grade.

Kindergarten adventures are held on Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon.
First – 6th grade adventures are held Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on designated weeks.

In the play by Duncan Macmillan, a thirty-something, educated and thoughtful couple are debating their future. In this time of overpopulation, erratic weather, and political unrest, what exactly are the right reasons to have a baby? Their debate becomes the catalyst for a love story that is both wildly universal and intimately personal.

Lungs will preview Thursday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m.and Friday, July 26 at 8 p.m. and runs through Aug. 18. Performances will be Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $31 to $35, with discounts for the preview performances, and for students, seniors, and military. Food service is available 90 minutes prior to performances (reservations are advised). Use the code GREEN for $5 each ticket!

Volunteers needed for a  fun, family-friendly volunteer trash cleanup and seedball making day in Harold Simmons Park. Meet us at the Felix H. Lozada, Sr. Gateway on the west side of the Ron Kirk Pedestrian Bridge.

The Great Seed Bomb will be leading the Seedball Workshop where you can get your hands dirty and make native grass and wildflower seedballs that will be dispersed in different areas along the Trinity River Corridor. Sowing seedballs helps to reinforce habitats vital to the migration of monarchs, the well-being of bees and adds beauty to our green spaces. The Trinity Park Conservancy is a Texan by Nature conservation partner.

Join us at Texas Discovery Gardens on July 27, as we bring together native experts from across the state and nation for a series of lectures. We are thrilled to start our day with Doug Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home. Our day continues with experts from near (Blackland Prairie conservationist Brandon Belcher) and far (landscape designer Jim Martinez from west Texas). Our own staff joins the day for Garden Tours and a special final chat from Entomologist John Watts that will help you identify what’s growing and going on in your garden at home!

Heard Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary: Magical Moth Night - McKinney

Magical Moth Night will include an insightful talk about these amazing creatures. After the talk, our trail guides will lead you into the sanctuary to experience the Heard’s nature at night. Your guided hike will end at one of the observation stations, where you’ll be able to study moths firsthand through the use of non-lethal catch and release methods. 

This event will also feature our new 4-foot diameter Magic Planet digital global display as it illustrates the night sky in a whole new way. Family-friendly activities, such as face/arm painting and exhibit hall admission, will be included. Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks or picnic to enjoy at designated areas during the event.
