The High Desert in Abiquiu has inspired Texas artist Jim Woodson since exploring the region via motorcycle in the late 1980s. His paintings are a unity of the intuitive process of painting, personal ideology, and the desert landscape. Woodson embraces the concepts of time, space, and knowledge in his work and uses these three elements to title his paintings.

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 4, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH, 9 a.m. to noon

Join Groundwork Dallas at Hines Park, a hidden gem along Harry Hines Blvd. Help protect the park’s water feature, a haven for migratory birds as well as egrets and heron, by removing litter and debris.

Where:  Harry Hines Park, near the intersection of Harry Hines Blvd and Webb Chapel Extension. Parking is in the Xenco Laboratories Lot at 9701 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas TX 75220

Please wear closed-toe shoes, pants, high socks and long sleeves.

Join Groundwork Dallas at Frasier Dam Recreation Area, a unique 116-acre urban wilderness. Help us restore and improve this area through litter clean-up and removal, trail building, and maintenance.

Where: 9300 Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75247. Take the I-35 South ramp off of Harry Hines Blvd; entrance is to the right just under the bridge.

Celina Garden Club: Garden Tour - Celina

Tour of eight area home gardens and wineries.

Advance tickets are $20, and will be available online beginning March 16 at www.celinagardenclub.org, for pickup starting at 8 a.m. on tour day in Celina’s historic downtown square, near Walnut and Ohio Streets. Same-day tickets may also be purchased there for $25.

Tickets will also be sold at four area retailers: Annie Jack, 222 W. Walnut St., Celina; D&L Farm and Home, 811 N. Louisiana Drive, Celina; Texas Seasons Nursery, 807 N. Preston Road, Celina; and Cristina’s Stone & Garden Center, 14400 Preston Road, Frisco.

Presented by the Celina Garden Club, the self-guided tour winds through the picturesque countryside of Celina, providing stunning views of its vast farmlands and gently rolling terrain as well as rare glimpses at several of area’s most impressive gardens.

The North Texas Water Garden Society pond tour features 40 ponds across DFW. Go to NTWGS.org to purchase a tour guide for $20, which entitles a whole carload of people to tour for the weekend, June 8-9, Saturday from 9  a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
