The High Desert in Abiquiu has inspired Texas artist Jim Woodson since exploring the region via motorcycle in the late 1980s. His paintings are a unity of the intuitive process of painting, personal ideology, and the desert landscape. Woodson embraces the concepts of time, space, and knowledge in his work and uses these three elements to title his paintings.

Jun 7 2019 - 9:00am to 11:00pm
Hines Park
9601 Harry Hines Boulevar
Dallas , TX

Groundwork Dallas will host the grand opening of Hines Park in West Dallas. This small park was once a neglected and litter-filled green space. Groundwork Dallas adopted the park over four years ago and has added a loop trail, rock garden, wildlife viewing platform, benches and fencing to make this a beautiful sanctuary in an industrial part of the city.

Groundwork Dallas will provide light refreshments, binoculars for birdwatching and a guided walk around Hines Park on trails they built. There will also be a BioBlitz, which National Geographic defines as “an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time,” starting at 10 a.m.
