Lantern festivals are a central part of Chinese culture and date back thousands of years. Join us as this ancient tradition comes to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden where you will see over 20 sets of lanterns crafted from silk, wire and steel and where you can spend an evening filled with fun, food, and adventure. This event offers visitors the opportunity to experience an event rarely staged outside of Asia.

Notably, The River and the Wall, a documentary by filmmaker Ben Masters. which follows his 1,200 mile trip along the Rio Grande on the Texas border, will be screening on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Perot Museum and April 27 at 2 p.m. at the Hall of State.

There is no limit to the documents you can bring for shredding. The only limit is time or the truck getting full. So we would recommend come fast if you have a lot of documents to shred.
Everyone is welcome to participate. Shred old/unnecessary personal items.

The shredding event takes place at the same location and the timing overlaps with the city of Plano's electronic recycling event (9-11 a.m.) which is also open to the community. You don't have to be a Plano resident to participate.

Bring: old bills, old checks, brochures, paper, file folders, credit card offers, photos, dated bank statements, old tax info, post-its, envelopes, newspaper.

Jeff Quayle will be leading an adventurous hike to Lake Mineral Wells State Park to Penitentiary Hollow. This will be a moderate hike through Penitentiary Hollow. Hiking boots and long pants is preferred, so be prepared for a lot of exploring off of the main trails. Weather permitting. Trees and understory species will be leafed out, so we may be dodging some brush and greenbriar. Be prepared to explore some nook and crannies of the hollows. We will be observing our native ferns in the area and other natives in the park, including a few rare species. Must pay park entrance fee.
