Lantern festivals are a central part of Chinese culture and date back thousands of years. Join us as this ancient tradition comes to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden where you will see over 20 sets of lanterns crafted from silk, wire and steel and where you can spend an evening filled with fun, food, and adventure. This event offers visitors the opportunity to experience an event rarely staged outside of Asia.

Throughout April, visit any of the 7 Whole Earth Provision Co. stores (2 in Dallas) to pick up a free state park guide and make donations to Texas State Parks. Donations are accepted in any amount, but if you donate $20, $50, or $100, Whole Earth will give you a nice “thank you” bonus or two or three (while supplies last)! 

Donate $20 or more and receive a $5 Texas State Parks Gift Card that can be used toward park passes, entrance fees or park store purchases.

Waco Friends of Peace/Climate: Film Screening 'Paris to Pittsburg' - Waco

Screening of Paris to Pittsburg, a 2018 documentary that brings to life the impassioned efforts of individuals who are battling the most severe threats of climate change in their own backyards. When Trump withdrew the US from the Paris Agreement, he claimed he was more concerned with Pittsburg, the Mayor of Pittsburgh responded “We stand with the world and will follow the agreement.“  The film highlights actions the City is taking to combat climate change. 

• Meeting begins 6 p.m. prompt in Westbank meeting room (right door at front of bldg). 

• Narrated by Emmy & Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan.  Film by National Geographic & RadicalMedia. 

• Vegetarian pizza/pasta & salad buffets. 

• Business meeting at 6 pm with buffets: status of Go Renewable Waco, next steps, review of recent projects, consideration of new campaign, special award presentation.  

• New free business-size information card to members for distribution. 

• Free bumper stickers, reusable shopping bags, publications.
