Welcome to Seed Preschool's Second Annual Seed Fundraiser! Once again, we are offering organic, heirloom seeds from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. This year, there are more seed kits as well as individual seed packets. This is an online fundraiser. Click here to buy seeds

Help us raise money for our nature school programs. Your contribution helps support general operating expenses, Matilda's maintenance, books and materials, and more through the seasons. This is a quick two-week fundraising blitz. Sales begin March 5 and will end on March 20 which happens to be the Vernal Equinox (the first day of spring) and the full moon - surely an auspicious day to conclude our fundraising. Seeds will be delivered locally in early April. Thank you for your support!

EPA: Lead Service Line Identification and Replacement - Webinar

EPA Office of Water is hosting a series of quarterly webinars highlighting challenges and successes in lead service line identification and replacement. The webinar series showcases how states and public water systems have successfully identified lead service lines and shared that information with the public to raise awareness about the presence of lead service lines in their communities.

This event offers visitors the opportunity to experience an event rarely staged outside of Asia.

EarthX: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! - Dallas

Earth X is bigger than ever this year and is seeking volunteers to help out at the giant eco-expo April 26-28 at Fair Park in Dallas. This is a great opportunity to gain experience, network and be part of the world's largest eco-fest. 

Earth X volunteer manager Melinda Garde said there are more than 30 different opportunities available for volunteers.

"Volunteers are the face of EarthX. As a volunteer, you are an integral part of the process of changing the way people think, work and live," said Garde. "Volunteers will engage attendees with fun hands-on activities that teach how to make a difference through science, technology and innovations in thought leading to a sustainable future."

Volunteers get a T-shirt and snacks. There are two shifts: 9 a.m. -2 p.m., 1 p.m.-6 p.m.

Tarrant County College NE: Smart Phone Apps to Explore Nature: Hurst (Thru March 22)

Class taught 3 afternoons: March 18, 20, 22, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Annabelle Corboy and Martha Siegel are teaching a hands-on workshop in which students will download and learn to use free Smartphone Apps that can help them explore and document the natural world. The focus will be on iNaturalist, using it to post observations and help identify them. Some of the most powerful aspects of iNaturalist are only available through the website, so we will take a look at those features as well.

We will also look at Merlin Bird ID and AllTrails. If time and weather permit, the last class will include a field trip to a nearby park.

Students must have a Smartphone. Both Androids and iPhones will be supported. This class is part of the Senior Education program at Tarrant County College and is open to citizens 55 and older.

ACTION ALERT! Save the Belmont Hotel - Dallas

The Belmont, a historic iconic structure in Oak Cliff that developer Monte Anderson renovated, is in trouble. The owners that bought it from Anderson in 2015 have let it fall into disrepair. 

A small grassroots group has gotten the Belmont placed on the docket to be considered for landmark status. The hearing is March 21.
