North Texas Renewable Energy Group: Real-Life Long term Solar Performance - Dallas

Sep 15 2018 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
Midway Hills Christian Church
11001 Midway Road
Dallas , TX

Presenters: NTREG members Larry Howe and Bill Neukranz

Larry will speak about his system's performance compared to local solar energy. When anyone installs solar electric equipment, they have expectations of its impact on reducing the utility bills. Larry will discuss his expectations, and compare what his sysetm was predicted to do, compared to years of performance measurements.

Bill will talk about performance difference between "string" and "'micro&quo;t inverters. (What is an "inverter", "micro-inverter", and "string" inverter? See our "Glossary page for definitions!) When during the year can you obtain maximum solar energy production? (This will surprise most people!) What happens when you install solar panels facing different directions from each other? For the more technically inclined, Bill will talk about a do-it-yourself energy monitoring system.

About Our Presenters:

Larry Howe co-founder of Plano Solar Advocates, a grassroots non-profit volunteer group of Plano citizens. Their mission is to increase awareness and use of Solar Energy for electricity generation in Plano. Larry has had solar energy equipment on his home for six years. Larry is a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of his career in the telecom industry.

Bill Neukranz worked for Texas Instruments for three decades, where (among other duties) he was responsible for managing energy and manufacturing automation. Bill has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue, and an MBA degree from the University of Dallas.
