George W. Bush Presidential Center: Bluebonnet Tours - Dallas (Thru June 2)

Enjoy docent-guided bluebonnet tours in the Native Texas Park on the grounds of the Bush Center. The park features other seasonal wildflowers, native Texas grasses, tree-shaded lawns, and clearings providing habitats for butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. Visitors can explore native Texas environments such as Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah, and Cross Timbers Forest.

The free tours of the Native Texas Park are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., weather permitting. Usually lasting between 30 and 40 minutes, visitors are guided through the winding network of walking trails. Space is limited and tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Keep Dallas Beautiful: Volunteer for Green Team @ Byron Nelson (May 7-25) - Dallas

The Keep Dallas Beautiful Community Green members have opportunities to volunteer at the Byron Nelson PGA golf tournament in two different areas: 

May 7-25

Course Steward Team: On the course, riding in a golf cart 

All Volunteers 

- Set up and remove waste stations on event grounds. - Service stations and haul waste to collection areas 

during event.
- Volunteers will work in groups of 2 and be responsible for an assigned area. 

 

May 12 - May 21
Materials Sorting Team: Behind the scenes recycling 

- Sort waste bags from event grounds. 

- Materials sorted into recycling, compost, and waste streams. 

- (1) T Shirt provided for each volunteer
- Water and Gloves provided.
- Volunteer will be responsible for providing their own food.
- Minimum Age - 16
- Shifts will be 8-10 hours long with (2) 15-minute breaks and (1) 30-minute lunch break.

Dottie Woodson will explain the Texas Smartscape Program and how to use it to design your home landscape. Texas SmartScape is helping to promote education on pollution prevention through efficient and effective water use and focuses on using native and adapted plants that grow well in our area – North Central Texas. Dottie is a former Tarrant Co. Agri-Life horticulturalist and currently is an Extension Program Specialist for Water Resource as well as contributor to local newspapers and TV programs.
