George W. Bush Presidential Center: Bluebonnet Tours - Dallas (Thru June 2)

Enjoy docent-guided bluebonnet tours in the Native Texas Park on the grounds of the Bush Center. The park features other seasonal wildflowers, native Texas grasses, tree-shaded lawns, and clearings providing habitats for butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. Visitors can explore native Texas environments such as Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah, and Cross Timbers Forest.

The free tours of the Native Texas Park are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., weather permitting. Usually lasting between 30 and 40 minutes, visitors are guided through the winding network of walking trails. Space is limited and tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Earth X is bigger than ever this year and is seeking volunteers to help out at the giant eco-expo April 20-22 at Fair Park in Dallas. This is a great opportunity to gain experience, network and be part of the world's largest eco-fest. 

Earth X volunteer manager Melinda Garde said there are more than 30 different opportunities available for volunteers.

"Volunteers are the face of EarthX. As a volunteer, you are an integral part of the process of changing the way people think, work and live," said Garde. "Volunteers will engage attendees with fun hands-on activities that teach how to make a difference through science, technology and innovations in thought leading to a sustainable future."

Volunteers get a T-shirt and snacks. There are two shifts: 9 a.m. -2 p.m., 1 p.m.-6 p.m.

Friends of the Southwest Nature Preserve: Scats and Tracks - Arlington

Kayleigh Medeiros (Audubon conservation treks manager for the state and academic programs manager for Trinity River Audubon Center) will be discussing animal evidence, specifically scat and tracks. Participants will learn how to safely examine scat and how to identify it. We will then discuss the tracks of an animal; participants will discover where to look for tracks, the parts of a track and how to measure.
