Walk through historic Joppa neighborhood to pass out fliers, encourage residents to attend community meeting on March 22, at St. Luke Community United Methodist Church, and City Hall Council Meeting on March 28, about 2 pm. These three dates are part of a campaign to prevent permitting of two new concrete batch plants next to this historic black community. The neighborhood already suffers from having an asphalt batch plant next door. Write to your Dallas city council person to say that Joppa suffers enough already.

George W. Bush Presidential Center: Bluebonnet Tours - Dallas (Thru June 2)

Enjoy docent-guided bluebonnet tours in the Native Texas Park on the grounds of the Bush Center. The park features other seasonal wildflowers, native Texas grasses, tree-shaded lawns, and clearings providing habitats for butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. Visitors can explore native Texas environments such as Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah, and Cross Timbers Forest.

The free tours of the Native Texas Park are offered every Saturday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., weather permitting. Usually lasting between 30 and 40 minutes, visitors are guided through the winding network of walking trails. Space is limited and tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Volunteers are needed to craft native wildflower and prairie seedballs with the Dallas Seed Library and Groundwork Dallas, haul them to a meadow along the Trinity Forest Trail, and release them into the wild! The Dallas Watershed Dept. is dedicating 200 potted prairie grasses to the cause of restoring native Blackland Prairie in the area.
