2900 Live Oak Street
Dallas , TX

Do you live in a neighborhood called “Oak Forest”?  Ever wonder what happened to the oak trees?  The answer to that question has a lot to do with urban planning, land development economics and community preferences.  It also helps predict the future livability, sustainability and marketability of that neighborhood.  Join the Texas Historic Tree Coalition at its February meeting to learn more about the past, present and future of people and nature living together in our metropolitan areas. Our speaker will inspire much thought about our great old trees and the explosive growth we see across Texas.

Presenter: Karen S. Walz, Principal in Strategic Community Solutions, LLC, and Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Walz has over 40 years of experience in community strategic planning, public engagement, facilitation, comprehensive planning, and plan implementation. Her work spans the United States for clients in cities, counties, metropolitan regions, and non-profit organizations. Walz served as the Project Manager for "Vision North Texas”, a coalition of private, public, and non-profit organizations working to create a regional vision for the DFW Metroplex. She has received numerous awards and commendations for her work. Walz received a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Environmental Earth Sciences from Stanford University and a Master of City and Regional Planning from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
