Are you working on starting a community garden? Always wondered what it takes to get started Involved with a garden that would benefit from a little extra help? This workshop is for you!

Who should attend:

•Anyone in leadership in a community garden setting

•Anyone thinking about or working with others to start a community garden

$25/person. $15/for additional person from same garden. Limited scholarships available.

Three sessions: 

1. Feb. 8, 6-9 p.m.

2. Feb. 9, 6-9 p.m.

3. Feb. 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fort Worth Audubon Society: Purple Martins - Fort Worth

Purple Martins and humans have a special connection that goes back hundreds of years. Purple Martins thrill people in a variety of ways throughout their life cycle. This presentation will cover that life cycle, dispel some of the myths surrounding martins, touch on some of the recent research findings and highlight some of the ways that birders and non-birders alike can connect with this spectacular bird. A special invitation has also been extended to visit the stunning migration roost in Austin. 

Presenter Shelia Hargis teaches Travis Audubon’s “Introduction to Birds and Birding” class, gives presentations on a variety of bird topics, surveys birds for the city of Austin and the USGS Breeding Bird Survey as well as private landowners, regularly leads birding field trips and is past president of Travis Audubon. She is currently on the Travis Audubon Board of Directors and the Education Committee and is Vice President of the Texas Ornithological Society.

Trinity River Audubon: Night Hike Owl Prowl - Dallas (Feb 8 and 9)

Visitors will take a guided night hike through the Great Trinity Forest and explore how our senses change with the setting of the sun. We will learn how nocturnal animals have adapted to the night life. Guests will search and call for the owl species that call Dallas home. The night will end roasting s’mores over the fire! 

Held on both Friday and Saturday nights
