As of noon today, February 6th, there's one seat remaining in a TCU baking with chocolate course. Just in time for Valentine's Day, you can "learn what the percentages mean on that bar of chocolate, and bake your way through white, milk, dark and unsweetened. Recipes include triple chocolate cookies, devil's food cupcakes, fudge brownies and chocolate ganache." The course will be at the always green Artisan Baking Company in Ft. Worth. Sign up.

This Thursday, February 7th, we're highlighting two different events. One is a new meetup for folks interested in sustainable fasion. It's a meetup to share ideas on organic and recycled fabrics and materials and sustainable production methods. You can check our event listing for details. Also this Thursday is a public hearing on the reconsideration of gas drilling in public parks.

If you've stayed abrest of the issue, the Dallas Plan Commission is reconsidering gas drilling on Dallas parkland. They voted it down in December. Dallas Residents at Risk is holding a press conference at 1 pm prior to the public hearing. You're encouraged to attend the hearing and make your voice heard. The public hearing will be at Dallas City Hall. Event details.

Oak Cliff Mardi Gras events are this weekend, including the 5th annual Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade this Sunday. There'll be a dash for the beads as well as a masquerade ball on Saturday, February 9th. Should be a lot of fun, and as we always say not much is greener than festivals that get people out and about in their community in sustainable ways. Check their site for more details.
