John Darling shares the history and motivation behind the compost program he helped start at the University of Texas at Arlington 10 years ago.

Recently, the program was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Food Recovery Challenge for its demonstrated commitment to improving sustainable food management practices.

According to Meghna Tare, UTA's sustainability director, the campus initiative may be the first of its kind in North Texas.
