Dallas greenie Kim Young’s online store Pretty Things & Cool Stuff features vintage valentines, including this Woodsy Owl-ish card, originally created by Gordon Laite, a popular illustrator in the 1950s and 1960s. Fair and Square Imports in McKinney features a selection of handcrafted cards for a variety of special occasions. This humorous card was handmade in the Philipines by women survivors of sex trafficking. The card incorporates a variety of handmade, recycled papers, making it environmentally sustainable, too. ARTISTIC

These block cut, handprinted cards are made by printmaker Katharine Watson.

Dallas artist Teresa Wyatt, founder of Off Avenue Studio, creates monoprint notecards, which she hand pulls on her printing press using live botanicals.  

Working from her studio off Greenville Avenue, she uses plants gathered from local gardens and green spaces in Texas, including East Dallas and the White Rock Lake area.

WILD CARD

SOY SWEET

Dallas sustainable creative consultant Amy King recommended these eco-friendly nature-inspired cards from Modern Printed Matter. The cards sell for $3.50 and are printed with soy and vegetable based inks on heavy 100 percent PCW recycled paper. It may be too late to order for this year, but make a note for next year and other occasions.
