Green Source DFW is an online publication covering environmental news in North Texas. Launched in 2011, the educational site was the vision of retired GSDFW Editor Phillip Shinoda and Memnosyne Institute cofounders Thompson-Frenk and Joshua Frenk.

Today, GreenSourceDFW.org continues to promote the North Texas green movement through original reporting, feature articles, green business and nonprofit listings and a green event calendar. The site is overseen by Wendel Withrow, GSDFW Director, and Julie Thibodeaux, GSDFW Editor, and a dedicated team of contributers - Anna Clark, Rita Cook, Marshall Hinsley, Shirley Jinkins, Amy Martin, Minnie Payne, Andrea Ridout, Julie Ryan, VET the artist and Jason Winningham, aka The Green Tip Guy and web designer David Hahn of Fireroad Digital.

The mission of the Green Source DFW is to educate the community about environmental topics as they relate to North Texas, including green living, sustainable practices, conservation, environmental advocacy, eco-friendly green businesses and public policy discussions.

In addition, GSDFW hosts the annual Oak Cliff Earth Day (April 14) and the Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards ( Nov. 15), which celebrate and unite the North Texas green community.

We’re honored to be included with these other inspiring winners:

Peacemaker of the Year - Hadi Jawad; Justice Seeker of the Year - Julio Acostal; Justice Seeker of the Year - Reverend Dr. Neil G. Cazares-Thomasl; Peacemaker Organization of the Year - Force for Immigrant’s Rights and Empowerment; and Lifetime Peacemaker - Jan Sanders

The public is invited to join in the celebration at the 2018 Peacemaker Awards Banquet on Dec. 6 in Dallas.

In addition to the banquet, the evening features a silent auction and a reception with booths from fair-trade and eco-friendly vendors, local artisans and socially responsible entrepreneurs for your holiday shopping. Local non-profits and educational institutions will be there as well to share information on their efforts and increase community involvement.

“This is an annual homecoming event for Peacemakers and Justice Seekers in our North Texas Community,” said Thompson-Frenk. “It is a time to come together and lift up the good work being done for Peace and Justice by exceptional leaders.”
