The Dallas-Fort Worth area boasts a number of eco-friendly retail businesses providing North Texas residents the latest green products and services. Here are readers’ favorites for the Best Green Retail Venues:    

Green Lotus Spa & Retreat in Dallas not only promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle by using natural and organic products, the company shows it commitment to clean energy with the installation of a wind turbine to generate power and an electric car charging station in the parking lot for customers. The spa has also adopted digital record-keeping to reduce paper waste. In addition, a tree is planted in Brazil for every service booked.   

Flora, the gift shop at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas in Fort Worth, offers a retail store geared to nature lovers. Gifts made from natural and sustainable materials or with a botanical theme line its shelves. The shop’s inventory includes nature-themed educational gifts for kids, fair trade jewelry and home decor made from recycled material. 

Green Living, located in the Dallas Design District, offers a breath of “green” air with its wide selection of eco-friendly paint, flooring, gardening supplies and housewares. Among its many unique offerings are eco-friendly latex mattresses, bedding and pillows.     

The Greener Good in Fort Worth is a green beacon in the area as one of the first stores in Tarrant County to promote the eco-conscious lifestyle. The green retail outlet features high quality housewares, clothing, children's accessories, home improvement products and gifts. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things green.  

At Green Pet, owner Leslie McKay took a unique angle on the green lifestyle when she opened her natural pet supply store in the Bishop Arts District in 2009. The store’s inventory of all natural pet food and treats, along with toys made from recycled material, aims to promote a wholistic, healthy lifestyle for pets.
