The speaker will be the Texas Historic Tree Coalition’s own Steve Houser, who is a certified arborist, master naturalist, master gardener and also a founding member and past president of the Texas Historic Tree Coalition. In addition, he is a co-author of Comanche Marker Trees of Texas, which was recently released by Texas A&M University Press. Steve will speak on the subject of Indian Marker Trees, which he has been studying for over 20 years. (TXHTC volunteers have played a significant role in some of this research.) We will learn what marker trees are and their significance in American heritage and culture. Some of the past research by our volunteers will be covered, and we will also learn where this research will lead us in the future.
