Presenters: Zack Korman and Michael Hays, co-founders of Awesome Power Texas, and Steve Martin, customer, My Best Plan

Zack Korman and Michael Hays are the co-founders of Awesome Power Texas, a free website that helps Texas residents find the cheapest electricity plan for their homes. Awesome Power Texas uses a person's smart meter electricity usage data to calculate an expected cost for every available electricity plan in Texas.

Zack's presentation will focus on inefficiencies in the retail electricity market, analyzed from the perspective of the consumer, and the cost of “green energy”. The first part of the presentation will discuss the problems with Power to Choose, and how Awesome Power Texas has addresses those problems. The second part of the presentation will consider renewable energy plans, and how much these plans cost in relation to non-renewable plans. The third part of the presentation will discuss how solar panels affect this analysis, and some of the data Awsome Power has on retail customers with solar panels.

In the second presentation, Steve Martin, homeowner on the DFW Solar Tour, will speak about his experience as a customer of "My Best Plan". Since 2009, My Best Plan has helped clients in Texas find the best home electricity plan in the market, given their personal preferences.
