The 14-hour Master Composter course hosted by Bluebonnet RC&D gives students an in-depth look at the benefits and challenges of composting. The three day class hours are Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students will get an understanding of the biology of composting, the importance of solid waste reduction, and be introduced to vermi-composting (composting with worms), and hands-on bin building. The course fee includes all books and materials, and a light lunch on Saturday. State of Texas Alliance for Recycling course certification is obtained after completing volunteer service hours teaching others about composting. A free C.E. Sheppard compost bin goes to students volunteering in Cleburne. $20.
