In How to Let Go of the World and Love All The Things Climate Can't Change, Oscar nominated director Josh Fox (GASLAND) continues in his deeply personal style, investigating climate change – the greatest threat our world has ever known.

In partnership with CISD, students from New Tech High school will present an environmental proposal that will better our quality of life. Some ideas they've generated in the past have been to propose green walls, to paint the roofs on local buildings lighter colors and the creation of green spaces to reduce the urban heat island effect. Registration is not required. Free.

The 2016 BioBlitz at Tandy Hills Natural Area will combine cutting edge technology, biology, land conservation and community engagement in a 36-hour, round-the-clock session. The BioBlitz – the first event of its kind at Tandy Hills and one of the first such full-scale events in North Texas - will focus on documenting and preserving one of Fort Worth’s most beautiful, valuable and fragile natural treasures. Volunteers will conduct a systematic biological inventory that will serve as a planning tool for ongoing land management efforts.

Monthly gathering of local environmental groups to share information and discuss local environmental issues.

This month's topics:

• Denton gas plants - where are we and what can we do about the vote

• Gibbons Creek coal-fired power plant of which Garland and Denton are partners) - I need help in contacting Garland Council/officials regarding the sale/or closure of this power plant.  If Garland folks can contact me ahead of Thur., I'm happy to discuss.

In December we will not have a regular meeting with a speaker, but instead will socialize and celebrate the holidays with members and guests. Bring a snack or dessert to share. Drinks will be provided. We will have a raffle, and our Sierra Club merchandise and calendars will be available for sale, as well as some gently used camping equipment.

Join Collaborative Laboratory for Environmental Analysis and Remediation (CLEAR) at UTA and top environmental scientists to learn how unconventional drilling can affect the environment and your health. The boots on the ground scientists come face-to-face with the unconventional drilling industry on a weekly basis. Learn from their experiences and research before unconventional drilling hits Florida. Have your questions ready and join the webinar live.

Hear Rita Beving, the North Texas Outreach Coordinator for the Clean Water Fund, discuss the framework for DFW water planning and the decision makers who influence water policy, and where we are with water planning for the region. The presentation will then pivot into addressing the highest usage of water, both inside and outside the home, and address how you can save water and save money at your own home.

Representations from North Texas environmental groups gather monthly to discuss developments in local issues. This month: Keystone decisions, Root & Branch Revue report, Arlington vote on city manager and oil & gas, big plans for 2016 and more.
