You don't have to leave town to enjoy the fun & excitement of family camping! Join Plano Parks staff at Oak Point Park for a night of family camping. Please feel free to bring a picnic dinner. A light breakfast will be served Saturday morning. Minimal number of tents will be provided by the Parks & Rec Dept. Everyone must register. No pets allowed. Ages 3 and up. $13.

Learn beginning kayaking skills at the lake located at City of Plano's Oak Point Park. This class will be under the instruction of an American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor who will teach you the ACA Quick Start program. Boats, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Participants will be required to sign liability waivers. 2-week cancellation policy for this class. Everyone 17 and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. $65.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure-hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with a global positioning system device (GPS). Rapidly gaining in popularity, Geocaching is an entertaining and educational outdoor activity. Whether for family fun, exercise, or the thrill of the hunt, there is a global game board just outside your door with treasures waiting to be discovered. Learn the basics of GPS usage and how to use one to go Geocaching in this informative session. Everyone 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. $6/person.

This class will be under the direction of American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor, Dave Holl, who will teach campers the ACA Quick Step program. Boats, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Parents will be required to sign liability waivers on the first morning of camp. In the event of inclement weather, class may be moved to an indoor facility or postponed until weather improves. This camp has a 3-week cancellation policy. $150. Monday-Friday, June 13-17, 8am-noon.

Students will also learn the proper way to cast a bait caster reel and will discover what types of baits to use in different situations. The camp will spend time reviewing fishing safety standards. Campers will venture to area lakes to develop basic fishing skills. Students will need to bring their own fishing gear, bait, a sack lunch, and drink every day. $65. Tuesday-Friday, July 5-8, 7:30am-12:30pm.
