The exhibition brings together more than 200 authentic artifacts and immersive environments to explore the astonishing accomplishments of one of the most powerful indigenous Mesoamerican civilizations, that still has millions of living descendants today. Visitors will learn how the Maya built towering temples and created an intricate calendar system while discovering what archaeologists have uncovered about the once-hidden ancient Maya, and the unresolved questions about why these ancient cities were abandoned. Through hands-on activity stations, guests can decipher hieroglyphs, learn cultural and architectural techniques, and explore an underworld cave, ancient burial site, mural room and more. The bilingual exhibition, presented in English and Spanish, requires a surcharge for members and non-members.

Gardens can change lives. Children who appreciate nature will feel more connected to where their food comes from and to the world around them. It all starts with a seed. Join Seed Preschool and Matilda the Bus as we partner with The Better Block for our Summer Workshop Series: From Soil to Soup. We will explore the process of planting and growing, meet some friendly creatures, create beautiful things, and enjoy a good meal together at the end. For children ages 5 to 10. $30/workshop or $150/6 workshops.

STAR North Texas: 2017 North Texas Recycling Leadership Awards - Nomination Deadline (Extended)

State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) North Texas is pleased to announce the call for entries for the 2017 STAR North Texas Recycling Leadership Awards. The 2017 Award winners will be honored during an Awards Luncheon in August 2017 and the winners will be eligible to progress to the State Level STAR Awards Competition. These annual awards recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals, communities, and businesses for developing or maintaining programs involving recycling and other sustainability efforts in North Texas.
