Perot Museum: Maya - Hidden Worlds Revealed - Dallas
The exhibition brings together more than 200 authentic artifacts and immersive environments to explore the astonishing accomplishments of one of the most powerful indigenous Mesoamerican civilizations, that still has millions of living descendants today. Visitors will learn how the Maya built towering temples and created an intricate calendar system while discovering what archaeologists have uncovered about the once-hidden ancient Maya, and the unresolved questions about why these ancient cities were abandoned. Through hands-on activity stations, guests can decipher hieroglyphs, learn cultural and architectural techniques, and explore an underworld cave, ancient burial site, mural room and more. The bilingual exhibition, presented in English and Spanish, requires a surcharge for members and non-members.
UTA: Responsible Shale Energy Extraction Symposium & Exposition - Dallas (Thru April 22)
Free event, chaired by UTA’s Collaborative Laboratories for Environmental Analysis and Remediation or CLEAR lab, will bring together concerned citizens, scientists, oil and gas operators, regulators, and technology developers to have a series of constructive discussions about environmental stewardship within the shale energy sector.
Earth Day Texas - Dallas
The largest eco expos in the world, the event is held on three days and attracts thousands of visitors to Fair Park. Hundreds of exhibitors will be on hand, including environmental nonprofits, businesses, academic institutions and government agencies aiming to raise the environmental consciousness of North Texans. There is also a full schedule of speakers and demonstrations at this free fest founded by Dallas philanthropist Trammell S. Crow. New this year is the EarthxFilm film festival. Keynote speaker Sylvia Earle speaks at noon on Saturday.
The Great Seed Bomb & EDTX: Seedbomb Making Workshops - Dallas
A giant, weekend long, free series of seedbomb making workshops and seedbomb giveaways. Workshops are at 1pm and 4pm, Fri-Sun. Giveaways occur all weekend while supplies last.
We've got a full on seed ball making operation going on with several hundred pounds of organic compost, ranger red clay, Native American Blackland Prairie seed! Everyone is welcome to make seedbombs, snag a bag of'em, and learn how to wildscape a piece of their backyard into native pollinator habitat.
