Snappy Salads logoThis is part of a series on top sponsors of the Green Source DFW Run for the Environment.

When Dallas native Chris Dahlander opened the first Snappy Salads at Preston Road and Forest Lane on St. Patrick’s Day in 2006, he wanted to do more than serve healthy fare to North Texans. He also wanted to be a good steward of the Earth.

That's why today the stores’ tables are made from salvaged wood, countertops from recycled materials – porcelain, beer and wine bottles – and the lighting in the dining area is energy efficient.

In addition, each location recycles compact fluorescent light bulbs and batteries at no cost and the stores hold an electronic waste recycling roundup twice a year. Meanwhile, cups, utensils and take out containers are made from annually renewable resources and are compostable. And last year, the company started serving paper straws instead of plastic.

We’re thrilled that Snappy Salads is a Dogwood Sponsor for the 2015 Green Source Run for the Environment. For more information about Snappy Salads, visit SnappySalads.com
