It’s a family trade, but Mesquite resident Tony Martinez has made it a healthy one too. That's because Martinez’ company Splash of Green Paint provides eco-friendly house painting to the residents of Dallas and surrounding cities.

Tony Martinez Splash of Green PaintMartinez grew up in the Pleasant Grove area, the son of a master house painter whose clientele includes Highland Park homeowners.

After apprenticing with his father, in 2001, Martinez went out on his own with the ambition to become the local “green” painter.

“I use eco-friendly paint because when it was introduced to me I knew it would be safe for the environment, home owners and my workers,” he says.

He also uses eco-friendly primer and cleans up with eco-friendly cleaning products.

Mary Anne Mayer Redmond, a green financial advisor based in Addison and Green Source DFW board member, recently hired Martinez because of his environmentally conscious approach.

“They did a very clean job – very precise with conscientiousness as to the environment of my home! They were quiet as they worked, there were absolutely no toxic odors and the paint work was absolute perfection.”

With a crew of up to five, the green painter says he believes that overall folks like him because he does a good job and he is conscious of the environment.

“Clientele is word of mouth and I think my customers use me because I can provide [eco-friendly] services for them.”

While he has done a lot of work since 2001, he recalls that the most interesting jobs were working for the vice president of the Dallas Stars, Jason Farris, and also for Texas Ranger pitcher Tanner Scheppers.

Martinez can be reached at 469-688-6406 or email him at Tonymtz11@gmail.com or visit  Splashofgreenpaint.com. The company does hand scraped floors, tile, seamless gutters, wooden fences, power washing, faux finishes, glazed cabinets and back splashes.
